A Very StarKid Harry Potter Fandom Celebration

On August 11, a variety of intertwined pilgrimages converged at the Hilton Chicago. One group of performers had come to reunite their college friends and close out a creative chapter in all their lives. At the same time, far-flung fans came to celebrate literary and digitally forged connections in the flesh. And a fan convention strove to redefine itself as more than just a place for a boy wizard. One year ago today Team StarKid presented A Very StarKid Event at LeakyCon 2011. To say it was a highlight for a lot of our conference-goers is like saying that Hufflepuffs are just okay at finding things.

At this LeakyCon, they are determined to outdo themselves. We are thrilled to tell you that Team StarKid will present a staged reading of A Very Potter 3D: A Very Potter Senior Year at LeakyCon 2012!

This is the first and only time to see this show and it will include nearly every person who has ever appeared in a StarKid production. The show will feature a book by Matt Lang, Nick Lang, and Brian Holden. The current list of StarKids involved in the production and confirmed to be in attendance includes:

LeakyCon will host this once-in-a-lifetime event and could not be more excited about it. Nor can the StarKids: Read what Brian Holden has to say about it:

“This year Team StarKid celebrated the third anniversary of the release of A Very Potter Musical. At LeakyCon, we’ll celebrate three years of being included in this spectacular fandom by presenting one of the most requested and most rumored about projects amongst our fans. LeakyCon 2012 will host the first and only presentation of A Very Potter 3D: A Very Potter Senior Year, the third installment of our ‘Very Potter’ parody play series. Although time and availability only allow us to do a staged reading, we hope this will be a truly unique performance for both Team StarKid and its fans! We’re treating it as something of a reunion, and with the help of LeakyCon we’ll be including nearly every StarKid actor we’ve ever worked with. We may even ask for fan contributions to the reading, making this a true celebration of everything that’s happened over the last three years. So come join us for AVP3D:AVPSY, and see what happens as Harry enters his senior year at Hogwarts, and struggles to find his purpose in a world that may not need him anymore. It’s going to be a once in a lifetime event presented in stunning 3D. We can’t wait to see you there!”

This event will be part of “A Very StarKid Event II,” and will take place from 12pm to 3pm on Saturday, August 11 (You can find a full updated version of the LeakyCon schedule here). Those with passes to LeakyCon but without a pass to AVSE(II) will be able to watch a live feed in a separate ballroom.

We know you have questions, and we will have more info in the coming days! Right now, we just want to say we are super psyched to have the honor of hosting this show! We also need to offer a big thanks from all of us at LeakyCon to Pat Brady and all the StarKids, who have worked so hard to make this a reality (and keep it a secret until now). It’s gonna be totally awesome!

Team StarKid have released two huge announcements today! First, Holy Musical B@man will premiere on April 13th, so get psyched for that!

Second, StarKid are embarking on tour once again! The APOCALYPTOUR will take off on May 9th in Chicago and finish up on June 10th in New York City, touring all around the US!

According to the link above, the StarKids that will be included on this tour are: Jaime Lyn Beatty, Joey Richter, Brian Holden, Brian Rosenthal, Lauren Lopez, Jim Povolo, Meredith Stepien, Dylan Saunders, and Joe Walker.

Tickets will go on sale on April 17th. This time there are two VIP ticket opportunities—the ‘Golden Idol,’ which includes an autograph session, poster, and lanyard, and then the ‘Crystal Skull,’ which includes a meet-and-greet with photos, a poster, lanyard, and concert program. More information to come!

First thing I want to say is I am ridiculously proud of my friends in Team Starkid for being bold and doing what they love. I am going to see the show tonight (Saturday) and am soo excited to see what they have been working on. Holy New Musical Starkid! This is gonna be great!

Secondly, very sorry to say but Ms. Tessa Netting is stuck in LA for the moment, but we are happy to announce that the very funny Sarah Ashley will be taking her place for this show. You may recognize Sarah from her Chicago-based Comedy Duo “The Era,” which originally formed at the University of Michigan right beside Team Starkid!
